Happy weekend!

Take it from the kids and spontaneously bust out in happiness, peace and utter joy this weekend over the smallest of things.

We picked up some confetti eggs a month or so ago at Wal-Mart. Kids had a nice little egg smashing party yesterday. It probably was the best $1.98 I've spent in a long time.

Sometimes I get on little kicks.

I am on a pastel kick.
and
I am on a Pillow Talk kick.

For some strange reason I have gotten up early the last few Saturdays and starting doing my chores and felt inclined to turn on Pillow Talk..it seemed helpful.

It would make my day to hear what kind of "kicks" you all are on..so please do share.

cuff craze

Photobucket

Hi there this fine Thursday. I just thought I would post a reader's request on finding an agate cuff. As you probably know some can be pretty pricey (like the above Kelly Wearstler agate cuff) but I feel there are quite a few options in the above mix that are very affordable. I posted before that I get a ton of wear out of my agate cuff but recently have found myself really attracted to plain brass cuffs...they make me feel like wonder woman:-)

I am working on a project that includes the love of light fixtures that come in the spherical shape. The below are just a few that actually are affordable..pls. ignore the circa hicks pendant unless you have more pennies than most.

Today I have already seen the Hunger Games..actually got home at 3am. Functioning on 3.5 hours is not optimal. I had no idea what it was all about but went with a brother who was dying to see it and his wife declined the midnight showing. Despite being on the front row it was a movie worth seeing. Have you seen or read the books? Is that a funny question?

Blaming sleep deprivation as to why I then drove to downtown and picked up a new/old lacquered desk and then hauled the boys into a thrift store.

Somehow stopped by the mexican pottery place on the corner that I have passed by for 20 years and never stopped (you know the one with the big metal dragons and horses for sale). Same place my mother in law dragged a donkey and a sleeping mexican from to go by my pool. Don't worry they were of the ceramic kind. Somehow I may have been honest when she asked if I liked them..I hate it when that happens (seriously). The donkey and the mexican found there way into her own front yard in Utah.

Wanted to buy the above black and white jewelry box from Home Goods. Apparently they sell small boxes for $200...it went back on the shelf.

A few other highlights:

Little green shoes for my girls..on sale over here. I love little shoes even if they are scattered all around my home.

Chocolate chip cookies.

Lots of hugs, squeals and kisses from kids that look cute in my eye.

A field trip at school for the girls.

A agate cuff that I wear every single day.

Fabric and paint considerations. Why do I start many project and never finish. Someday I will paint that darn bedroom and then frame all of the random pieces of art.

Happy wishes to all you weekenders!

What will you be up to?

You know the movie The Holiday? Well in real life I have "The Holiday Syndrome". When I watch the show I want to live in both of the houses. I always try to make the choice in my head about choosing one of homes that would best suit me. Usually the the more refined & sophisticated home in California wins (mostly due to the blackout blinds;-). In real life I think I feel more comfortable living in a place that doesn't have as much stuff in it. I actually oftentimes really gravitate towards things that are clean and modern but there is always this need for seeing spaces that have lots of stuff in them. So today I am loving the concept of the above space. Today, if the truth be known I would actually love to stay at the Los Poblanos Inn & Organic Farm and would love to see the decor reflect the above space. Is that too much to ask for???

Diane Von Furstenberg has been a powerhouse in the design world for a long time. She proves to be holding strong as her most recent line for Gap Kids was launched just last week. I hear it is almost sold out as well. Anyway, I got a real kick of seeing Diane at home and in office circa 1972-1983 and thought it would be fun to have a look back.

HI from New Mexico

Some refer to New Mexico as the "Land of Enchantment". I'd say I myself was pretty enchanted when we found a place that advises against wearing shoes. In the barren southern part of New Mexico there exists a place called White Sands. The sand was unreal and if it would have been cold it may have tricked us into thinking it was snow. I liked the fact that the sand was so soft and I noticed when we left we didn't take much of it with us in the car..which was a bonus (sand residue brought into our car and home is not so much a favey of mine). To think we would have never experienced it if we didn't decide at the last minute to fill our spring break with a little road trip. We enjoyed ourselves so much that we will most certainly go and explore more of what New Mexico has to offer.

Have you been to New Mexico? Did you like it?

Anyway I just wanted to check in quickly before our spring break comes to a close. I will be back to blogging next week.

Hope you all our are doing more than fine.

The kids didn't take a hint when I told them to go and find their own sand hill. Sheesh I just wanted some time for peace and meditation....Ohm...can't believe there was a time when I thought I'd have zero kids. From the looks of the below picture it seems that I lost my legs before I lost my mind...PHEW....I still have my mind.
I smiled when the elevator door opened at the Space History Museum in Alamogordo, NM and the very small kid waiting to board exclaimed very loudly "whoa that's a lot of kids". Sometimes I almost forget....except then I really don't because they are in my face....AND just maybe at times they can be fun.

Hi guys, I am really feeling Spring-ish. I had a totally different post planned but as I put on my hippy flower dress I really felt compelled to get a few things out there that pertained to floral..LIKE....

*The above pillow is from here and is so pretty. Sure to brighten up any space for spring.
*If I lived on the east coast I would be all over that faux bamboo floral settee..found here
*I would love to have a spanish cottage with flowers hanging all over it.

Oh and speaking of pillows..did you hear..Amber Lewis that one very talented lady just opened up her new shoppe. Lucky for all of you if you go over and enter IHEARTU then you will receive free shipping on any of your orders. Go here the check it out...pretty pretty pillows.

Also I may be back later this afternoon with a subject matter on my brain...something to do with being a hippie momma.

P.S. - Of course I have a flower power board if you wanna check it out.

It's official..there is no confusion when knowing that my favorite exterior color of a home is white. Now I need to go and buy a pack of white t-shirts in place of the home that I can't repaint yet.

Photos from here.
