not of the masses......

I have a love/hate relationship with places such as Wal-Mart. They are accomplishing everything they have set out to do which is to monopolize the market. I always say I am not going to shop there for that very reason but then I some how just end up there time and time again. Besides the great prices and being a one stop shopping place, they are open later than anywhere else and that is working for me. I've become a late night shopper since I've acquired a full house. Well today @ the Wal-Mart I found some of the best flip flops ever. They were all yellow & $2.50...."perfect" I thought, they'll even match my new lamp that was not produced for the masses (my brain works by associating colors you know).  Well sure enough when I got home they were the same exact color.  My daughter (oldest "M" by 2 minutes) has been begging to click the camera so we seized the moment.  Besides, the two yellow items in the above pictures had invoked some thoughts that made me associate my other little girl so they would work perfect for the picture.  I set the camera up on a little table told her to hold it very still and then push the button.  It really wasn't that simple because we had to keep doing a re-do but she did an awesome job (refer above).
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My girls have decided to quit napping.  I made a deal with them & said that they at least had to do quiet time.  Right away little "M" asked if I would get her down some books.  I came back to check on her & this is what I found.  She looked so beautiful in the soft light pouring in on her little body.  I thought to myself, "This girl was not produced for the masses, there is only one of her & she is all mine."  I've had to become fine with not having a monopoly on her because I realize that was not part of the "original Plan". After all she is not really all mine because she was just a gift from above that has been loaned out like a book from the library & I signed my name to check her out for our earthly experience.  I am just in charge of helping her write part of her book.  My biggest hope is when I sign my name to check her book back into the library that it will be in the best shape ever & even better.  I also hope I can teach her as much as she has already taught me.  She sure has learned me a lesson a time or two:-)

I'm looking forward to see how her story goes.

P.S. - Little "M" asked for a purple pencil to show me a surprise.  When she brought what she had been working on I couldn't believe my eyes.  There written very clearly was her name.  She still has another year of preschool and she can write her name...I am AMAZED.

I Love yellow today!

it's your new friend again!....what a sweet post! I too hate Walmart but at least the one on Greenfield is somewhat tolerable. I think you have to be a slow checker to be hired there though. I love your daughters chairs in her room!

Yellow is just darn happy. Kuddo's to your little daughter for already writing her name. That is huge!

Adore your new Wally purchase & your lovely lamp!

Um I love that lamp. Can I be invited on your adventures in finding fantastic things? It looks like we may have another photographer in the family.

Doesn't that just warm your heart to see her ask for books rather than something else to play with? As you know I'm a book lover too. I love that my kids crave books more than I do. It's such a joy to me.
I totally hear you on the whole checked my kid out from God thing. I'm glad the check out time is not a few weeks like the library gives you. One time Vance totally destroyed a book and I had to go in, explain and then pay for it. I can only imagine what kind of "paying" I'll have to do if I bring any of my kids back damaged. But this is why I love the Gospel so. It has taught me so many things about how to be a good mother and how to raise my children how God would like them raised. I also feel more than grateful for the atonement so that when I mess up and loose patience with my kids or don't teach them correct principles that the Savior will forgive me as I bring a truly repentant heart to him and change. I think I ask to be forgiven of at least one thing everyday. It's a bit humbling.
I love you sissy.
P.S. You had a good run with those naps. Vance gave his up 8 months ago.

What a smart little bunny. There surely is no other child like Miss M. She is too funny.

Pretty much a good chunk of our paycheck goes to Wal Mart. I too, have a love/hate relationship. All though, I have been finding great deals on food at Target lately. Are you close to a Target? New to your blog. Love it.

What a wonderful post. We choose to avoid Walmart. Little Miss M lovely. Great job on your name Little Miss M.
That check out program that the Lord has is one of the best. It will not be good for those that do harm to the little ones. There will be a very high price to pay for that one.

From what we have seen here, you take that program very much to heart and do your best to return them in as good or if not better than when you got them. You will get a "Well Done" from the one that gives them out.

My house hold the color of choice would be Orange. Yellow is not bad, Orange for us would be even better.

Have a good day.

Yes, but your love for Walmart totally out weighs your hate for it...admit it. Don't worry I will remain sworn to secrecy about all the treasures you buy there for your "projects".

Prepare to keep being amazed as they grow. It is astonishing what and how fast they learn. I have been convinced since I had my first that they are just coming down smarter and more capable. (And possibly with a bit more attitude because they know it;)These are indeed the last days.
