Charlotte's Locks {latest color obsession}

Todays color obsession comes from a new color that Farrow & Ball just came out with called Charlotte's Locks.

The above dressing table turned desk was featured in the latest issue of Sunset Magazine and when I saw the color it was painted I just had to take note of it. Charlotte's Locks is described as being a fiery true orange that was widely used as an accent colour in the minimalist decoration of the 1950s and is highly dramatic and extremely fashionable. Would you use this color?

Um- yes! I would definitely use that color! I really love the first image- I think this color is a great pop of color and is SO lovely with the shiny brass hardware-

I think you're definitely on to something with "charlotte's locks"- in small doses, it creates a huge impact!

I love it. That will fall into the "if I were not married to a man I would go crazy with it" folder:)

My grandmother was very fashion forward in all eras including the 50's which was noted that this color is replicated from. She went as far as painting her front door this same color. I would not be so bold but she was a very classy woman who knew what she was doing. (you would have loved her. so many of your findings and style remind me of her) This post reminds me of her and her legacy. I love this color. Thanks for sharing.

Oooh yes. Very very into this. And the little gold caps (totally not the proper terminology) on the legs of the desk? Brilliant beyond my wildest dreams. I mean where do you find this stuff?! xo

So Charlotte, I mean, Christine, I painted my farm table in the kitchen orange while ATL was under ten feet of snow a couple weeks ago. So far I'm like, Agh, I'm eating lunch at Del Taco. The whole package isn't complete yet so I'm not giving up on my vision prematurely. We will see... Tacos, anyone??? But I do so love that desk--remember Jill's at LiveLikeYou? Why does my table look like Del Taco??????

I definitely love this color. Especially with the drab winter weather. I actually bought a coral/orange skirt from Target yesterday as a pick-me-up. I think I'll be pairing it with that orchid purple. Thanks for the inspiration!

I think it is a pretty accent color. I wouldn't dare paint a room with it. I saw a similiar color on the cover of better homes and gardens and it is a fun pop of color!

Oh my it's gorgeous!

I think I'd likely use any color by F&B.
The Brits just know what's hip.

Yes!! I was apprehensive about painting my desk that color. It went from being the thing in my house I hated, to the thing that makes me smile everyday!

So glad that you like my desk! I have to say, it has been a while since I painted it but I am still in love with the color.

Do you know if they used a semi-gloss or sealer?
