{4 ft. dollar bill and a calendar}

PhotobucketPhotobucket
PhotobucketPhotobucket

Just a few things:

*The guest room AKA as my own personal space room got a coat of Peace & Happiness by Benjamin Moore. The name of the paint is very fitting for my new work space. To think that I usually am not a fan of any shade of purple. We are breaking all kinds of rules over here and it feels good.

*Circled "In God We Trust" in red on the dollar bill and had it blown up to be 4 ft. wide. Money actually is very pretty and now I can really see the details. I am amazed by the work of Gilbert Stuart, the artist behind the dollar bill.

*Framing is so expensive. I am hoping to be able to find a good deal on acrylic rather than glass to frame the large dollar art in. Any ideas?

*I am having a hard time making a decision on bedding.

*Loving the mongolian lamb pillows that were just gifted to me.

*Really excited to use my new seesaw 2011 calendar. It really is such a beautiful calendar. Calendar can be found here. Can you even believe we are almost to a new year?

What's going on with all of you?

P.S. - Best Christmas present ever was given to me by my son who decided to wear "big boys". That is huge potty business over here.

Love the dollar bill idea! A long time ago I framed some prints in glass with silver metallic air conditioning vent tape holding the glass together...it might work with plexiglass...

What an unbelievably gorgeous color! Can't wait to see more.

Any idea where the sheep pillow came from?

Full House said...

Yes, actually Caroline they were picked up at Marshalls. Have you seen the ones @ West Elm though?

I don't love Purple much myself, but this color is really awesome! Such a cheerful shade. Have a happy new year and congrats on the big boy potty. We are heading in that direction ourselves :)

Love your room! I need a sheep pillow. And I love your lamp and side table!

To make it work...the back would need to be a mat board or cardboard with a Plexiglass front. Then you can make a set of 2 hangers and tape them on the back of either side about 1/3 down from the top. The hangers are 2x2 squares with 2 holes in it, and then the hanging string or cord is threaded and knotted through the holes. We use a glue called Tri-Tex(similar to rubber cement) to attach the hangers on the back and then tape around them until it dries. I know this seems chintzy, but I am an art teacher and we do all of our pieces this way for competitions!
You could use 2 pieces of Plexiglass…but would need to use some type of hanger to attach to the wall to hold it up similar to a mirror hanger.
Good luck!
XOXO
Katie

Hello, Rossini, I love you. (did I tell you I'm thinking of using it in my living room (!) instead of my bedroom? Think Michael will freak when he sees all the purples and pinks? :)

I am obsessed with the dollar bill!! My husband works in finance and so does my father-in-law. This could be awesome in an office for one of them. A great present!

I frame a lot of stuff at Michaels. They will (on occasion) have a 50% off day. Look out for one!!

Love this idea!!

I love that giant dollar... my husband is a notaphilist, so it would be fun to (one day, when we own a house) have his favorite bills blown up and framed. I'll keep an eye on what your solution is for framing it.

This is genius. The lavender is to die for! I wanted to this with some leftover bills from my European travels... Their money is so artistic!

Wow the dollar bill idea is so cool. Any thing blown-up big can be so pretty I guess. I'm half inclined to blow up a huge portrait of my pug!

Yea for big boy pants!!!!

Hooray for giant money!!!

I suggested an orange and purple color palette for the house I've been working on, and I have almost convinced myself I'm doing that instead of pink for our bedroom redo. What you have done is beautiful and inspiring..and yippee for a room for you to be creative!!!

Ka-ching!

That looks awesome.
May I ask how/where you went about having the dollar bill blown up? I love that idea!
Thanks

Love the paint color! And what a fabulous pillow (: I'm with you- framing is super expensive! The dollar bill art work is amazing. Unexpected and so fun for the space!

never a fan of purple, yet always a fan of you and what you do. it looks so pretty! i love the bedding you have on there currently.

What I love most about this room is the personality--so eclectic & unique, but still very thoughtful. But of course that's just how you do it, isn't it?? :)
The dollar bill makes for amazing art & both bedding options work but I have an itching to see the grey pillow with the printed fabric. i think the texture & fabric together would be very ... sexy.

Oh! And before i forget, i die for that lamp, too.

Love the giant money idea!! I saw a house with pictures of coins blown up and always thought it looked amazing!

Cara, I had somebody with a really nice camera take a picture of the dollar and then I found a specialty photography place to blow it up to the size that I needed. The hardest part is just find a photography place that can do it. I used Image Craft here in the valley but I do know that they ship so if you want the info let me know.

I'm dying over the dollar bill! Tell me where to do this! I can see myself getting arrested or Kinko's calling the authorities LOL.

Hi Christina!

I meant to comment on this earlier, this room is coming together so beautifully! I LOVE it, but my favorite thing is actually something I have seen in other posts, it's the framed butterfly! I know you are going to probably say you got it at a thrift store, but do you know where someone might find another one?

Thank you so much!

Unknown said...

Love the room and especially love the grey headboard! Where did you find it or did you DIY?

Full House said...

Sarah Elizabeth - You can find all sorts of framed butterflies on Ebay. That is were I found mine and there are actually quite a few to choose from so go and get yourself a butterfly:-)

Full House said...

Erica - I actually bought the headboard from a thrift store. It was really old and upholstered in white vinyl so I took it down to the upholsterer and paid I want to say $90 to have it re-done.

I had to laugh at the potty training because I got the same gift from my youngest at Xmas, best gift ever!

And most importantly, I have to thank you for posting my trellis wall, I am really overwhelmed by the response. I so appreciate it.
I am off to check out more of your blog and am definitely putting you on my favorites.

Get OUT - this room has so much soul! I ditto everyone else's comment about the dollar bill art - I especially like that you noted the In God We Trust.
You are one, talented lady!

Just get that amazing dollar bill back mounted to a piece of acrylic and the get someone to add cleats to the back so it floats. It will look great and is less expensive than framing. Thats how I get all of my art done so I can sell it without framing.

Emily said...

I'm curious as to where you got the pineapple lamp. I saw one at a Salvation Army for a few dollars and was thisclose to getting it, but at the last second decided I didn't need anymore lamps. Love it, though.

Full House said...

Emily..of it was the Salvation Army in Sun City then it is the same exact one;)

Emily said...

Yes, it was Sun City! What a crazy, small world. It looks great in your special room!
