I woke up this morning feeling a little bit overwhelmed. It is not uncommon for me to get distracted by all of the little things. My brain can almost feel handicapped from all of the clutter that I let infiltrate it. Makes me just freeze up and become less productive at times.
Well as I walked around the house at 6am without any distractions I was able to slow down, take a few quiet moments to reflect, and that is when it happened...I thought to myself, "I need to step back and see the whole picture." I think too often I tend to just focus in on some of the small unimportant things that I lose target of what I want the end result to look like.
Most of what I already need is right here under my nose and I don't need to look elsewhere to complete my life's projects.
Back to the basics for me. Time to go back to the school of simplification and press forward using my resources wisely.
That's all for now.
Does anybody really read this stuff:-)
Just checking because I may just want to share as a bonus one of my most embarrassing moments... I wanted to be a flight attendant when I was 18 years old and had to do my interview in front of 50 other people. We were told when we arrived to give a 3 minute speech on whatever we wanted. I was nervous. My speech went as followed. "Hi, my name is Christina and I am from America", painful silence followed. Then I busted up laughing and said " I mean I am from Arizona". Everybody else in the audience laughed too.
I didn't get the job that time. Still makes my family & I laugh.
LOL, yes we do read.
ReplyDeleteNice to see I'm not the only one who gets bogged down by the clutter.
My last blog post was losely on the same subject...my problem is I don't know when to stop and get my head out of the flotsam to see clearly.

THis was exactly what I needed today. I keep getting so worried about the little things and can't be happy in the moment...I need to take a step back. This was what I needed to wake me up.
ReplyDeleteAmen sister.
ReplyDeleteof course we read this! it's the inspiring stuff you write daily, like today, that keeps us all coming back:) your home is so beautiful and is clearly full of lots of love!
ReplyDeleteEmbarrassed to admit, I read your posts a couple times! Throughout the day I will pull up your blog and see if you have posted anything else. Creepy? My husband thinks so! I love your upbeat attitude and honesty! I see through your posts what a loving mother you are, and I tell myself if she can do it with 5 I can do it with 2! Thank you for the motivation. You are adorable and so is your beautiful family!
ReplyDeleteYou put to words exactly what I've been feeling lately! Why is it that when I get busy and life-clutter happens, I just freeze up and can't function at all?! It always makes me want to slow down, smell the roses, and simplify as you said.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love your home! You've done such a beautiful job!
I'm wondering if I might be the opposite. Sometimes I get so focused on the end result I don't stop and take stock of the details in between. Step back and simplify is a good reminder for all of us.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on feeling overwhelmed, I hope you can simply things to feel free. BTW, your home is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI agree. Well said christina! I adore you. And I want to live in your house. mwah!

ReplyDeleteI read your blog everyday!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your house and LOVE the story! You're awesome! Only problem is that we don't live closer to one another. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly how I feel many days! Just too many things swirling around in your head and rarely a quiet moment to listen to your thoughts. Glad to know I'm not alone!
ReplyDeleteYes! I ask myself all the time what I can possibly omit from my life to make things better. I think it is especially hard for creative types like us to keep our hands out of many pots and our brains from scheming up new idears. Also, it is just too tempting to take the mundane stuff in life and gussy them up a bit--just because we can. Don't you think?
ReplyDeleteI hope you are feeling more tranquil today...brownies always help. :)
you're a gem.
