Still without my camera but let's hear it for the camera phone. Life has been very full as of late. A quick trip to Las Vegas for the super bowl of all rodeos & some family fun. Imagine lots of hats, trailers, trucks, & bling. What a crowd the rodeo draws. I'm wondering where all of these rodeo people get their funds to indulge in such activities. I'd say a large amount of them are from Texas and I guess it's true what they say about things being bigger in Texas. I still smile and pinch myself when I attend such events with the family I married into because I never in my wildest dreams would have imagined sitting in the National Finals Rodeo in some of the best seats in the house. Remember I am half hippy and it took me a while to come to grips with the fact that some people like to kill Bambi & wrestle baby cows (calves to be exact) haha. Hopefully my Father-in-law isn't reading because he will pay me back at Christmas with twice as many comments like, "How's that tree bark that you're eating". Don't tell the Father-in-law but I kind of enjoy myself at all of these events. I love the patriotism and pride of country that exists amongst this group of people (oh and I must have a small hankering for cowboys too..white t-shirts, faded jeans and boots. Is there such thing as a artsy hippy-cowboy who can strum the gee-tar?). Hey even Jewel seemed to enjoy her rodeo stay....except she kept yawning.
Anyway when we got to Vegas it was lightly snowing. Such a novelty in the desert. Speaking of the desert, you know what I love about Arizona....you can observe sunny, warm, beautiful & unique desert botany virtually from your front door but within a little over an hour you can bask in cooler temps with pine trees and snow.
Want to know what else I love...pretending to make cookies and having fun. Below photo

Oh and I love making cookies and having fun for reals too.
We've been making lots of ginger snap cookies. Cookies are the staff of life.
Another matter of business to be addressed is this sweet family. They recently lost there Dad in a freak accident. This story has really touched my heart.
Please go the any participating Chili's on Thursday, December 17th to help this family. Chili's will donate 10% of all that was made to this family. Don't forget to mention the family when you go to dine. Go here or here to find out the details on how you can help this family.
Oh and hug all of your loved ones a little tighter today.
xoxo
I've never been to a rodeo, sounds so fun!
ReplyDeleteAdorable cookie photo!
And how sad about the firefighter! I'm a "Stock", I'll have to send a few emails and see if it's a relative. Our family is so large in number and spread out, so many of us cousins don't know one another....
I don't tell many people this, but I secretly love rodeos. My dad used to live in Dodge City, KS so I've been to my fair share. I haven't been to one in LV but I have gone to Frontier Days in Cheyenne, WY too. Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteYou sure are funny with all your rodeo talk. I love 'em myself... cowboys sure are cute eye candy eh? Oh, yes, I am married... not blind. ;) I can just see your stunning self there now... wrinkled out cowboys (proud and confident, with every reason to be) picking their jaw up off the ground when you come strolling in, in all your half hippie glory. =D Super adorable cookie photo with your girls. I think I now have a use for one of the many huge apothecary jars I have... it's going right in the kitchen! :)
ReplyDeleteonly YOU can make decorating & baking cookies look so glamorous!!!
ReplyDeleteit is settled. i mean sealed. no ifs, ands, or buts... you + me = BFF. if you ONLY knew how much cows are a part of our daily life around these 'here parts'!!! :) and if you only knew how foriegn of a subject that used to be for me. but now, i can't imagine any other way of life. white t-shirt, faded jeans, boots, & some sort of "carhart" emblem is always in style here. especially when "chief" is sporting the look. :)
Did you know that the young man is related to Tim? We heard about it last Tuesday when we got to the temple because we are there with Tim' mom and aunt who just found out. What a tragedy. Another aunt that works with us on Wednesday said that he is one of the neatest guys you would ever meet.
ReplyDeletePS(great pictures from your phone!!)
i adore you christina. you are simply divine. and how sweet of you to post that for that amazing family. you are the best and you sure have cute kids!
ReplyDeleteWith such a job as that young man had, they never thought that he would leave us that way. Work related maybe but not like that. Sorry to hear of the loss.
ReplyDeleteThe cookies making looked so fun.
Rodeo's are the best, have been to my share of them. We have some really good ones around here.
Snow in LV,St. George Utah got dumped on. What a nasty storm that was. Since these places do not see snow much, WOW. I 15 was shut down for quite some time because of the storm.
Dan and Deanna "Marketing Unscrambled"
We will just call you eclectic. You can be a bark eating, wrangler wearing, artsy fartsy. So sad about that family.
