Crazy Cakes!

Little "M" begged me to lift her up to sit on top of our mailbox.  At first I was a little reluctant because it's almost 5 feet tall and well you know.  Well after I placed her up top I smiled and said, "Now how ya going to get down?"  She looked @ me and said, "Oh Mom it's EASY CAKES".  Now I've never in my life ever said anything that resembled "easy cakes" but I thought it sounded brilliant.

So pretty much there were no easy cakes to be found @ the zoo yesterday as I thought I was my own kind of brilliant to take all 5 to the zoo by myself. I was pretty convinced that it would be all happy happy joy joy as we basked in the glorious sunlight while observing nature @ it's finest all caged up.  (I'm only a 50/50 fan of the zoo)

A deep rush of anxiety began to fill my whole body as I almost lost one who wandered off to climb the Serengeti tower. The anxiety never really left and came on strong again when the above culprits completely erupted like Mount St. Helens back in '80. It was all quite comical actually but I needed to get out of there quick before all of my pressure that was building went off like a whistling hot tea kettle. I beelined it as fast as I could to the car, in fact I think I made record time so that's why I probably missed what was going on with the car parked next to us.....

Picture this, triplet girls the same size and age as my boys. Their owners came over and exclaimed, "Do you have triplets too?" "Why yes, yes I do & twins as well."  Well after comparing a few stats I soon realized that not a one of these people actually birthed these girls. They were in fact just the grandma, the uncle & the nanny. As we bid farewell I seriously thought now that's "easy cakes". Then the next thought of mine had to of been the icing on top of the easy cake when I realized that my cake was actually "CRAZY CAKES". Here's the thing, I really did almost feel part crazy as I realized my easy cakes were no where to be found that day.  Well today the crazy lingered longer but as it wore off a bit I realized, yes I must invite a helper next time I venture out like that and yes I am so lucky to be able to be the one to be with my kids, not grandma, not uncle, not nanny.

I need a massage & a hot tub now.

If you want something for free look below.

  2. Ms. Easy Cakes is grounded! I hate getting scares like that. Yes, you are crazy and should be grounded too. No more leaving the house alone for a while. You need your sanity. I wish I was there to be your helper.

  6. I hope you got your massage and hot tub, you deserved it! I won't even take my ONE 3 year old and ONE baby to the zoo by myself. I can't imaggine three and two. I don't go unless school i s out and my older girls can help out. It is much easier with a couple extra sets of hands. And a few extra sets of eyes when someone goes missing!

  9. I know the feeling of panic. Your pits start sweatin' and you look for the nearest exit all the while trying to keep it together (and that's when people wanna admire the twins!). Been there. Sometimes you have to get out and brave the world all by yourself. Some days it goes beautifully, other days.....well not so good. Lucky, yes that we are able to stay home with our babies.

  14. What a cute story! I knew exactly what you meant when you described that frantic feeling to get the heck out of there, and I only have one little boy! I also know just how striking/poignant/adorable it is when your child says something you don't expect. Adorable!

  15. I'd LOVE some recipes for quinoa! I've substituted it for rice in a few recipes but I haven't done anything too creative with it. I'm just excited that my family likes it too! My email address is laura.longboardlarry@gmail.com Thanks so much!!

  16. you have no idea how surprised and excited I was to get your comment! seriously, it was meet-a-celebrity excitement!

I was a seminary teacher in the fall of 2008 but some things fell through (I'm 21, no mission or temple experience) and with the economy where every business is on a hiring freeze ... now I'm job searching again.

I was a nanny for a long time before teaching seminary. I think that's why I love your blog so much. I love the way you handle, think about, and talk of motherhood. and heaven sakes: without a nanny! you really should write a book.

by the way - it's way too unfair that you've had twins and triplets and still look as gorgeous and skinny as anyone I've ever seen!

    thanks for your comment!

  17. Next time you feel like going to the zoo call me. I love the Zoo! We used to take Carys when she was a baby and we would have 5 adults and one baby. Isn't it great that everywhere you go your kids have so many friends! Thanks for help at the party! It was a blast!!
