I once considered a pair of wicker headboards for my girls room..they were only $25 a piece.  More recently I've had my eye on the above Moroccan headboards..they are beauties but in the end I went with making a custom daybed/trundle for my girls room.  Anyway I've been thinking a little girls room is a great space to add a little of that hippy look...just not too hippy...maybe a refined or reformed hippy:-)  The nice thing is that resources such as Ebay can bring the whole world to your home in a jiffy.  I just purchased some of that hand blocked fabric for $10/yard.  Hope it all works out..I will let you know.

Find fabrics and kantha quilts here, here, here, here and here.
Good source for Moroccan stools here.
Puff ball quilt and rug from here.

Just for kicks what about the below room...it's ethnic

Hey there..what about some movement.  I love how nature always shows us best.

The above fabric is pretty cool.. as is that bathroom design by Steve.
Also like the agate boxes but wouldn't but them on top of the counter in that bathroom.

And you?

green and coral goodness

Untitled

I went to Target yesterday and fell in love with the Webster collection.  It had me dreaming of some sort of emerald-y palm-y coral-y escape so I decided to combine that with a few things on my mind as of late.

Also what do you think about the below chairs from Craigslist?  I think they might be coming to my backyard...should they..should they???

There just has to be reasons as to why the treasured Sunday afternoon nap included some pretty bizarre dreams.   I guess I was still questioning the eligibility of my nap as I dozed off because the children had not quite settled for quiet time in their bedrooms...I'm thinking that and in combo with my alligator belt sent me spiraling into weird dream central.  Something about someone knocking at my door, handing me a baby alligator and then running.  Of course my nervous self then went to the boys room and opened their door..and of course there was a body of water with a shoreline to throw the alligator in...good riddance.

I wonder what that all means.  My kids can't possibly make me that nervous in real life;-)

Seriously though after we all got up from our naps there was non-stop laughter and squeals from the boys room as the girls migrated over to their brothers room to put on a show.

The proof is in the video.  Try and guess why they are in such an uproar.  Can't believe I let them carry on for so long...but then I can all at the same time.

If you happened to guess that the children were loading items of business such as little blankets, trinkets and cardboard boxes onto the blades of the ceiling fan and then turning it on then you are the winner. Seriously and I quote from my little girl as she bounced around, "Mom wait..wait you're going to see the most amazing thing.. ..ever.  Ready Mom.

Oh and if you are wondering we had a swell weekend that included Cinco de Mayo festivities such as a pinata, really good food, a new cacti for the boys room and marbled beets that were almost as pretty as my Momma.  My Mom happens to be the one that looks like happy with dark hair a little below her shoulders.

So with that go and drink your eight glasses of water a day and have a great week!

Hi there... just feeling some overwhelming feelings toward all sorts of yellow colors...so I thought I would just get it out there.

I especially think that top brightly hued yellow is so pretty when paired with nudes, linen, oatmeal, camels and/or rusts and such.

How is your afternoon?

Oh and the above spaces came from my May issue of House & Home.  It was designed by Brian Gluckstein.

Hi there, is it just me or have any of you notice a copper trend? Do you like copper? Could you use it in your home as light fixtures? Sometimes I think I would like to try some out and then sometimes I feel fine about just admiring the whole copper thing from afar.

Can you believe that home and the playhouse built of copper?

Also just look at that installation of copper fixtures in the Groninger Museum!! So cool

I think the most common copper light fixture that keeps popping up are the ones made by Tom Dixon. If I had my choice I may even try that Moroccan inspired fixture..and the price isn't too shabby.

Oh and let's not forget to talk about the talented Grant Gibson and the copper hood he recently used that was published in the online Traditional Home Magazine.

As always you can find more sources on my Pinterest board made if copper,

So just this morning I was in the girls room getting them ready for school.  As I fussed with Maren's socks, Maile lifted up her pillow and said out loud, "I wonder if the tooth fairy came last night".  I was a little perplexed because the tooth fairy had come just the night before.  I mean I remember Maile even showing me the rewards from her tooth..one whole dollar.  I then said, "I thought the tooth fairy  already came to visit".  She then proclaimed so matter of factly, "Well I made a fake tooth out of toilet paper to try and trick the tooth fairy because I am really hoping to have $9 soon".

I DIED!!  Seriously a fake tooth out of toilet paper to try and trick the tooth fairy.  I am just beside myself and am not too sure what to think.  So in the mean time I just laugh and count it as the funniest thing that has happened in May.  With that I bid you a Happy 1st day of May.

P.S. - Sorry for the absence I have been trying to figure out a few things..mostly how to get a new system to edit images for my posts..my other method decided to up and change.
