window treatment inspiration

Photobucket

Just a quick one picture post because I am scrambling to get everybody out of the house before the painter comes. We are finally getting out woodwork painted. Anyway the above picture serves as inspiration to how I am going to approach a window treatment in our home except mine would not be as long and it would be mounted above the window. Now just trying to decide if it will be a DIYer project. I could sure benefit from a sewing machine if I had one and if I knew how to use one properly...Stay tuned.

Have a lovely day!

{awesome hardware}

Photobucket

I love the above toggle pull with cuff that is from the Paris Apartment Boutique. The best thing is that they also come in a brass finish...which I am most interested in.

Jessica L. Bennett & co., are you even kidding me with this space..it is really pretty.

I bet the Brady's are very happy with the job that the folks over @ Alice Lane just completed. Every time I am in Utah I try really hard to pay a visit to my friend Jessica and her beautiful shop Alice Lane...it really is one of my favorites. I always ask her what she is loving at the moment and then she takes me around and with such passion points out a few of the items in shop that she loves. It is so fun to see a person with so much enthusiasm about what they are doing and it certainly comes through on her work. Anyway to see more of the project she just completed go here.

Also I asked my husband for one of the really beautiful and soft vintage saris made into blankets that Alice Lane has in stock but it didn't really work out for Christmas....so Jessica I'm hoping the big W.B. will call you for another event that is about to happen.

channeling glamour

Photobucket
Photobucket

one more for the road...

trying to channel a little glamour. thinking about the above rug for a space in my place. i think leopard is very classic but has to be done right or else it looks so cheap. i hope the price on that rug is not an indicator as to how it looks in real life.

what do you think about that rug?

Hi guys, I crashed my girls school today in hopes to make them feel like I was really happy the day they came out of my belly and so on. Nothing a little Dollar Store and Ned's Crazy sub couldn't do to aid in our good times today. Now onto the real party planning..we are waiting until Grandma and Grandpa come to town.

On another birthing note, I occasionally get emails from other womanfolk who are either having a hard time getting pregnant or are having multiples. Well I am here to say, do not fret because it all works out. You too might be close to 30 thinking you will never have kids and then be done 2 years later because you now had 5 (but probably not)...if so just have fun with it because we all know the other option..Seriously though what I really am trying to say is that I love getting those emails from other womanfolk even if I can't answer some of the questions like how to get your body back. Usually I just answer by saying, "just don't look at your body in the mirror and eat lots of quinoa". Quinoa solves all problems in life..joke (for those that know me).

Anyway I hope to hop back onto the blogwagon real soon...

P.S. - I was just going through photos on my phone and remembering how I was trying to make the first lamp look like the second lamp..didn't really work out as you can see. I sure love that second lamp by Arteriors.

itch to clean

Photobucket

Photobucket

I am cleaning house and I mean business this time. My front porch looks like a garage sale and Magic Erasure has come out to play...my walls are sicko. Anyway if the above space was mine I would no doubt set a couple of the items out on the front porch because I am craving a simple and clean space. Don't get me wrong though I do love many of the elements from the above space. How about the cow picture above the sofa?

How are all of you doing out there in blogland? Anybody else have the cleaning itch?

When I was in Las Vegas last, I happened upon a beautiful bookstore called Assouline. Besides all of the books, I immediately noticed all of the brass (hard to see but chairs are brass..obsessed) and the carpet with the numbers and letters. Anyway when I happened on the above colorful alphabet rugs I thought about that bookstore. I think those are some of the more fun alphabet rugs that I have seen and would look great in any room that houses children..like say a playroom.

simple pleasures

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Photobucket
Photobucket

Right now life is so good because of a little hot chocolate, novelty weather and observing kids getting to pet the stringrays for the first time. It's funny that sometimes it is those little things that are most satisfying.

I love that Dutch Brothers makes hot chocolate for kids that is not too hot and comes equipped with whipped cream on top of the straw. We are going back for more today for sure. Weaning oneself off of sugar is over-rated, right? Except if I was being honest I never felt better when I stopped eating sugar for a spell a little over a year ago.

Have a happy last couple of days in 2010.

P.S. - For the few of you wanting to see the squash blossom necklace, there you go. It's a handcrafted beaut if I do say so myself. Bonus points to the husband for pulling off one of the biggest surprises.

{polka dots and purge}

Photobucket

That sure is a nifty rug. If you look closely there is just a smidge of what looks like an ornament tree on that console. Pretty close to how our house looks like right now...Christmas almost all cleaned up. I love to put it up but really love to take it down. Makes me want to purge & organize.

{crafting for the New Year}

Photobucket

Throwing a New Years party??? Why not trying incorporating clocks and countdown numbers. All instructions found here. They have a huge bucket @ Whole Foods full of corks and I bet they would donate a few to the corkless crafter:-)

Also homemade party blowers would be a nice touch too. Found here.

Do you ever find anything where the colors, textures and designs are so beautiful that you just want to create a whole new outfit or a brand new room..or simply just bust out a plastic card to have one shipped to your house?

P.S. - I would love to sit by the fireplace in my pajamas. Such great overcast & brisk weather we are having..
