It happened.
Hello friends.
It happened.
Has it happened to you as well?
You know, the first kids being shipped off to the real world called Kindergarten.
If things keep up @ this pace the girls will probably be getting married tommorrow. Ok not really but that is sort of what it felt like yesterday because time has already flown by. Kind of pulled at my heart strings.
I had to keep remembering back to when I went to school and how excited I would get.....that helped to ease my nerves. This is all about the girls so I would be holding myself back if I stayed all sad for more than a day. So life is good but I need to excuse myself from blogging for a bit.
See you soon.
P.S. - The girls go to a school with a stict dress code and I already want to break all of the rules.
P.S.S. - Been working on a couple projects that I can't wait to share.

I have a swatch of the above fabric and really like it but was excited to see that elegantouch on Etsy sells the cushions already made. Go here to see more of the great pillows from elegantouch.

{Halston fashion illistrations}
I am loving these fashion illistrations done by Joe Eula for Halston circa 1980. Yes that top one with the bananas is Liza Minnelli.

{investments, change and smoothies}
I went into the guest bedroom and watched my girl as her back was turned to me. Today we were going to cut all of those long beautiful locks. Change is in air. It is part of life and natural progression but sometimes so dang hard. Perhaps in the next couple of days when I drop the girls off for Kindergarten I will think of those beautiful locks of hair on the ground and the chance for growth as I try to embrace change.
Man I have a lot to learn.
P.S. - I love how smoothies make myself feel better about being a Mom. My kids have no idea there are veggies mixed into all of that goodness.
Mother's Most Recent Smoothie of Love:
big heaping handful of spinach
fresh berries
banana
cold milled golden flax seed
kefir or yogurt
vanilla
water mixed with a bit of apple juice
soymilk
ice

{Palm Springs in Connecticut}
I recently went on a rare thrifting excursion and passed at the chance to bring home the same Blanc de Chine table lamps in the above bedroom. Thinking about those lamps made me think about Bruce Glickman's very mod space so I had to dig up the pictures and yep there they were.
Wondering if I still came home with any treasures? Well take a look...
I guess I was channeling my inner Asianness.

{perfect baby shower}
I love the inspiration that comes from this beautiful baby shower. Love the colors, pom poms, the canopy that was created over the table and all of the elephants.

summertime discoveries
(To Grandma: Here is the latest)
Discoveries:
*I can take every single one of the kids to swim all by myself. Before doing such I was shaking in my boots thinking of doing this task. Of course they were all in floaties and life vests.
*Don't just bring sunblock and not use any.
*When you say "kids you have 5 minutes left to play in the pool", that really translates to it will take 1 hour to get everybody out and in the car.
*Sometimes I only have control over one thing in life and that is how I choose to react. I was trying so hard to not get mad about something so instead I busted out in crazy song (this is a frequent occurrence). This time it was to a Vanilla Ice tune.
"Stop collaborate and listen, Mom is back with a brand new invention..
Pick up all of your junk and stop spilling juices"
The kids just stared at me. I felt glad that I was not being video taped.
*Perfect Food Bars are my friends. The kids love them and just look below @ the ingredients. In my opinion they are also one of the best before work-out or mom on the go bars..especially because they are made from whole foods. Sometimes they go on sale @ Sprouts and are found with the yogurts in the refrigeration section just in case you were wondering. They also have a website here.

{mamma to the mia}
1 part homey kitchen
1 part berry tart
Go to Spain, take off your shoes, feel the summer breeze, bask in the summer sunshine & eat sweet summer cooking. Mix the above together, sift a bit and ENJOY.
The above place is suited for a Momma who loves to sing her mia in the kitchen. What a perfect summer retreat. I am in love with the portfolio of Spanish designer Isabel Lopez Quesada (thanks to a reader over on Habitually Chic). To see more of Isabel's refined work go to her website right here.
