I never tire of finding beautiful vintage clothing for so many reasons. I am constantly inspired by the details that went into vintage clothes. I am sure that when many designers are looking for inspiration for a new line they will look to vintage clothing. Well we all know that Anthropologie has people they have hired just to shop the flea markets and thrift stores just to find something cool to re-create. When I started thrifting back in the summer of '92 I fell in love with the fact that I could find a unique, high quality piece for almost free. Now selling vintage clothing is a big business and the price of many pieces have soared. Although I am here to say that there are still chances here and there to find a real treasure. For example, I have the above leather Gucci coat that currently sells on 1st Dibs and guarantee I did not even pay anything even close to what it is listed at. It was found while out treasure hunting less than 1 mile away from my home. I almost didn't buy it because I was very large with triplets in my belly. Now that I have seen the same coat pop up on Ebay and 1stDibs for over $4,000 it makes me feel like I have created a major party foul by wearing it as much as I have. I would dare say that it ranks as one of my top treasures I've ever found. Did you noticed the beautiful tiger head hardware? Anyway, can you tell how excited I get when I talk about treasure hunting? Recently I have started working on a little project so I went to the search engines of 1st Dibs and as you can see I found quite a few lookers. I am feeling very inspired. A sequined striped shirt with a bow on it, yes please.

Take me back East...That is where the above lovely home is located. When I first noticed the above spread in Traditional Home I was taken with the IKAT accent pillow in the top photo. In fact I loved it so much that I emailed Terrat Elms who were the designers on the above project. Guess what, not only are they talented but they were super nice as well and wrote me back with all of the information I had requested. I especially love all of the Quadrille and Schumacher fabrics used in the bedroom. How would it be to have an ocean view like that?

Fluff N Stuff

Photobucket

So lately it has just been easier to post pretty pictures with not a ton of commentary. Trust me though I have lots of commentary going on in my head that I would love to share but the days do not have enough hours so @ this stage in life we're are keeping things very light & fluffy. Don't get me wrong, I love the fluff, for it certainly has its place as a nice diversion and an outlet. Recently though, one of the dialogues that has been running through my head is how there is so much hope to be had. Sometimes it is easy to feel heavy because of despair or discouragement. I mean life has a way of not going as planned or throwing us some major curve balls at times but I take great comfort in thinking about the whole picture and why we are here on Earth...and isn't that crazy how we are all in this together? Then I think about a funeral I attended a few weeks ago. I was reminded about the fact that our Savior is the most kind and merciful Being. He will always give us the benefit of the doubt. After I was reminded of that I felt more hope then I had felt in a very long time. Hope is a very good thing you know. You know what else...really good people who inspire when they are alive inspire even that much more when they die. I don't know about you but I don't want to die a loser..therefore I am very happy today for another crack @ life...I am going to try really hard not to curse in my head (or out loud) today even if my whole bottle of Costco cinnamon spills all over the floor and then little kids have a party in it. I'll admit it I was a little put out but then when I went to use the vacuum the next day I discovered that it sent the most beautiful cinnamon aroma throughout the house...my kids really are the genius ones and I should be taking more notes from them because I'm thinking the world is such a better place because of children. You know what else I am going to try and stop feeling so darn guilty all of the time for not being a better Mom. I mean there has to be enough guilt so that I want to do better but "come on" at some point stop the guilt. I never knew how much guilt comes with being a Mom..sheesh. There I feel I little bit better that I had a chance to go beyond the fluff a bit.

Happy Monday!

P.S. - We took all of cribs down last week. The boys old room now is starting to look like the above. The above rough draft is inspired by the hot air ballon, bike, and plane art. The room will be titled the, "we are going places together room" and is all about travel and heritage.

{Feminine Business} Miles Redd in Town and Country

If one was into feminine items of business (not the kind that I recently sent my husband to the grocery store for) then I would say look @ the above room. Also, my blogging friend Sasha is really into feminine business. She has got an eye and style to back up that eye because she always posts such beautiful images. Anyway she posted about the above space yesterday here. If you are interested in recreating that look of the above space then she gives all of the info and links on where to go to find the info over on Everything Fabulous.

Note: The above space is part of a home featured in Vanity Fair that was designed by none other than Miles Redd. To see more of the spread, Jess from The Love List posted more pictures and does a great job of breaking it down.

Happy Weekend!

I REALLY love modern desgin..that means in art, decor and fashion but oftentimes I find my mind wandering over to a very simple and warm cottage or farm. I guess you can say that I am really drawn to a modern cottage or farmhouse...a place with lots of texture. Of course the kitchen would be the heart of the home and in conjunction with the rest of the house would be extra warm. Perhaps my dream kitchen would even have a wood burning fireplace or worn wooden beams. There would be a nice little garden outside with fresh fruits and veggies. I guess what I am trying to say is that my husband should be really glad when my mind wanders into such a daydream because I usually kick it into full gear in the kitchen during one of these bouts...Like today when I saw the above home and suddenly felt the need stay in the kitchen a little longer and whip up something other than Auntie Annie's mac and chesse:-)

Good chance that tomorrow I will need something fun, colorful and full of energy.

Sometimes I feel like a DILL WEED....

Especially when I want to make a chilled cucumber soup with smoked salmon and dill recipe.

So wish this dill weed luck in helping to make our soup good:-)

Recipe found here.

Do you like the smell of dill? I do & I initially had a pre-package bunch of dill in my cart until I saw the above sitting right next to all of the veggies @ my local Sprouts and had to get that one as well because I thought it was just beautiful.

There is a reason I wanted to cook something a little different and it has to do with a wonderful daydream. Come back & I will share it with you later.

Have a fine Tuesday evening.

Beautifully crafted items from a sewing machine

{above photos from ES+ ES but found via The Neo-Traditionalist}

I was seriously dying over these children clothes found from ES + ES on Etsy. I am still saving my pennies for a beautiful piece from their shop. Speaking of beautiful, did you happen to notice that the word beautiful was stenciled in gold onto the above pictured skirt..brilliant.

And also speaking of beautifully handcrafted items...Have you seen all of the sewing Liz does over on Say Yes To Hoboken? I love it when she posts about her adventures in sewing or crafting. Lets observe some of the most recent...(click on the picture to take you directly to the post for instructions).

RESOURCES, resources

Photobucket
{photo via my house)
I was thinking that if I was I needing something to make myself feel good about myself then I could talk about the fact that I fed triplets for a whole year from milk that came out of my body. Alas, have no fear because seriously that whole "feel good" part has already been taken care of by SO many of my friends and fellow bloggers. (don't be sad that this post isn't about breast-feeding..ha)

Anyway, thank you, thank you to everyone that linked the girls room on their blog. In fact, I'm pretty sure if you had to see it again you would probably think, "Not that room again" but I must mention that I have this cousin friend named Jenny who authors a blog called A Little Green Notebook...anyway I am really quite fond of her and as promised all of the resources are up over there so if you are interested then head over yonder to the Notebook. GO HERE.

Photobucket

P.S. - Have you seen that price of formula lately? That is why I tell people I breast fed triplets for so long but really it was because I was part lazy and loved to be forced to sit down A LOT..ha
Don't tell husband because I milked that one so many times if you know what I mean. I even told him I was a very precious RESOURCE as my milk was liquid gold. I'm sort of not kidding.

P.S.S - The cheapest place I could find the flower mirror besides Home Goods a few years ago was at a shop online but they have since sold out. You aren't going to like this but the second cheapest place is online at High Fashion Home. If anybody knows where to get this mirror (or a look alike) for less than $599.00, pls. pls. share.

details

Photobucket
Photobucket

It's Friday and I feel fine. In fact I'm going to lay out a few things that make me happy and I wasn't even planning on doing so but I am going with it...

First and I am not even kidding but TRIM..yes I am obsessed with trim like in the above images. It's all about the details.

Secondly, just read this lovely post and felt uplifted & inspired to never not want to create so I can be like the Creator. The beauty of it all is that we all can create in our own ways.

Lastly how about a small town parade with triplet boys who have candy stuffed into their little mouths and are wearing cameras on their shirts...yes pls. I think I am mostly saying yes pls. because I had the help that came in the form of a Papa, a Grandma and an Aunt Alisha. Without them I would have been toast (more like the boys would have been toast or flattened out like a pancake after being hit by a float from running into the street). Husband was too busy to be of assistance because he was off sitting on one of the before mentioned floats thinking he was the star of the parade. At least he was sitting on the 20 year high school reunion float and not the 30 year one...see big time. Oh don't fret though those weren't the only things to pass by in the parade. We saw lots of beauty queens, tractors and hot rods:-) Just wait until I tell you about kids catching fish with their bare hands after the parade in the park. Well hot dang because it's all true.

Have a lovely weekend!

I am half tempted to not unpack any of my suitcases just in case I feel the need to flee dis 100 plus degree.

Once I take control over my place of residence then I will be back to answer all of the most lovely inquiries from the girlies room. I am overwhelmed (in a good way) by all of those nice comments. Thank you and lots of loves!
