If Krista Ewart's personality matches her decor style then I would hang out with her any day (especially @ her CA beach house). Her spaces are full of fun color and whimsey. I mean just to her website and you know you are in for a treat after you see her cover page.

fish grab
So I was thinking about the 4th of July fish grab today and the sight of a bunch of kids trying to catch slimy fish with their bare hands. It made me smile.
I think we were the only parents that made our kids put the fishys back though. I kind of like them to come already prepared to cook.
Hope you are happier than a kid in a fish grab today.

color part 1 {Tia Zoldan}
Do you remember Tia Zoldan's home in Cottage Living? It was such a great space. Anyway with it being Summer and having mucho kids I tend to crave color more now than ever and Tia's portfolio is plum packed.
DIY light fixture
I am a fan of Lindsey Adelman light fixtures. I recently stumbled upon a wonderful tutorial on how to make the above light fixture. In fact I felt it was such a good one that I had to share. For the full instructions go HERE.

vintage treasures
{all photos via 1st Dibs}
I never tire of finding beautiful vintage clothing for so many reasons. I am constantly inspired by the details that went into vintage clothes. I am sure that when many designers are looking for inspiration for a new line they will look to vintage clothing. Well we all know that Anthropologie has people they have hired just to shop the flea markets and thrift stores just to find something cool to re-create. When I started thrifting back in the summer of '92 I fell in love with the fact that I could find a unique, high quality piece for almost free. Now selling vintage clothing is a big business and the price of many pieces have soared. Although I am here to say that there are still chances here and there to find a real treasure. For example, I have the above leather Gucci coat that currently sells on 1st Dibs and guarantee I did not even pay anything even close to what it is listed at. It was found while out treasure hunting less than 1 mile away from my home. I almost didn't buy it because I was very large with triplets in my belly. Now that I have seen the same coat pop up on Ebay and 1stDibs for over $4,000 it makes me feel like I have created a major party foul by wearing it as much as I have. I would dare say that it ranks as one of my top treasures I've ever found. Did you noticed the beautiful tiger head hardware? Anyway, can you tell how excited I get when I talk about treasure hunting? Recently I have started working on a little project so I went to the search engines of 1st Dibs and as you can see I found quite a few lookers. I am feeling very inspired. A sequined striped shirt with a bow on it, yes please.
