old fashioned candy

I'm glad we've been putting our little brown containers to work. My kids seriously scored with the latest craft installment. I mean what kid wouldn't want a whole craft made out of candy. All I can say is take candy, wrap in saran wrap, push pin into foam ball...REPEAT & REPEAT & REPEAT . This was no quickie craft but it was loads of fun and kept my girls entertained for hours. We actually started out making a craft using the same concept but made it a little more kid friendly. The girls made their very own spring topiary with paper flowers pinned all around the styrofoam ball. After we were finished with the candy topiaries, the girls told me that I needed to let them hide the crafts in their room...clever I say...I'm raising no dummies. I'm sure by morning all of the petals/leaves would have mysteriously disappeared.

Then we made (I mean I made a desert bloom out of felt and ribbon). I have apparently really gotten into the whole desert thing this year. I've thought about using them for favor/place holders for the dinner party I am going to throw next decade or at the rate that I move it may even be 2 decades.

Have I mentioned how much I love the little brown containers? Tarjay, $1.69 for a pack of 10.

I am so fond of her wallpaper.

I know that may seem surprising being that I have birds and butterflies in my blog header.

So I really don't color coordinate my to-do list but I do love lists and I do love associating all things with color.

I need to find a console table, Easter dresses, a charcoal paint color, tile for laundry room, new herbal tea like I had @ Snowbird with cute necklace and bow tie cups, fabric for boys room and kitchen, a print to hang in kitchen, plant flowers in front yard, good deal on Fornasetti plates. Perhaps I could check all of these items off by a quick shopping trip to the thrift store..and I would get extra bonus points if I found the below purse @ Goodwill today! haha! Phooey, let's be honest I don't have time to go thrifting today.

Marmalade Interiors

Photobucket

Photobucket
It all started because of a comment left on my blog and when I went to comment back I found the above images. Jill decided to do a quick makeover of her tv room and titled the post from dreary to cheery and the result is anything but dreary. Anyway the above makeover caught my eye and I wanted to see more. Turns out Jill runs an interior design business called Marmalade Interiors and let me tell you that I was very excited to find even more beautiful pictures on her website. I love it when that happens...nothing better then beautiful photos related to design. Oh and if you are wondering about the pillows she uses then it's quite possible that she had them designed and sells them here. You can go and visit her blog here.

we grow em wild

My kids were ticked off that I didn't buy them the $4.oo ice cream cone that they wanted but instead opted for the cheaper old fashioned candy sticks @ the old store in Tortilla Flats.

What I liked most about the above scenario was that my daughter all of a sudden turned to her sister who was madly throwing a tantrum and said, "We get what we get and we don't throw a fit"...AWESOME.

I know I dream about a generation where women have tea parties and dress up to fly on an airplane. Something about good manners and being ladylike make me think of the 40's and 50's but dream about having those same things today.

Besides my little interview over on Bringing the Lady Back, you may be delighted to find how many fun quotes & rules there are on being more ladylike. It's a breath of fresh air.

To check out the Bringing Lady Back blog go here.

corkboard

I love this shot from Canadian House & Home.

Love the idea of taking a large cork board, painting it and then tacking up a bunch of photos.

Spring Fling

My partner in crime and I welcomed the very first day of spring by having a little fling on the ski slopes. It was so much fun having a field trip here without the little ones.

Speaking of a spring fling have you been over to This Blessed Nest's Spring Fling Party...where anything goes..(click on the button to join to see what the fun is all about and come join the party..I know I will as soon as I unpack from my little trip). You have got to check out her new office..AMAZING.

I am a little bit obsessed with the above brown planting containers. I have big plans for them. I also have a friend who is getting married and when I showed them to her, she thought that she would use them as wedding favors all dressed up and filled with a little succulent. Also I think they would make a great Easter craft. The best part about it is that they can be picked up @ the Target gardening section for $1.69 for a package.

flanking mirrors

Today I feel the need to flank a couple of mirors right next to each other.

I wonder if flanking works for children too or am I confused with a similar word that rhymes with flanking put starts with a sp....

Just teasing about the above because today if I could, I would freeze my kids in time and hang them side by side on the wall for my constant viewing pleasure...that kind of sounds weird.

The below mirror perked my interest after Jaimee posted it yesterday. May be a little too fancy to flank..I just can't decide. I like how it looks like tile.
