Do you still like grey walls and herringbone wood floors...cause I do. Do you have a split design personality..cause I do. I find myself very attracted to international design magazines. The above images come from this months Architectural Digest Spain. Let me tell you it is a pretty darn good issue. I feel very inspired to think outside of the box when I see some of the spreads in these international magazines even if they would not exactly translate to things I would do in my own home.

You owe it to yourself to at least buy this months online copy of Architectural Digest Spain. Found here.  Doesn't take much for me to convince myself that I owe it to myself to by a magazine...such a major weakness.  In fact I recently had a friend text me with a picture of her large very organized collection of magazines with the following:

"With Pinterest and etc should I be hoarding all of these mags?  Feel guilty throwing them out.  But will I ever find the ideas I need out of them"

Within minutes I then shot her back the below image..there were no words needed.
I am just so thankful for kindred spirits who make me feel normal about certain tendancies.

I do not know why it is so hard to get rid of all my glossies.  Anybody else have this problem?

P.S. - I especially love the color of the above herringbone wood floors.

So interesting... As I was looking at all of the pictures I thought this post was going to be about chair placement and seating arrangements. Ha. Love a good herringbone floor too :) xoxo

I am sooooo the same way. I have narrowed down the ones I keep but the collection is huge and hard to part with.

I can't part with a singleissue of Elle Decor! It's insane. The wide plank maple floor looks exactly like mine. Love it!!

I think you may get that trait from your aunt carol!! :0 I remember going to her house long ago and spending hours just looking through a small portion of her stash. Pure delight!!

Me. I have a problem. I confess. I think they coat the pages with crack. There is no other explanation!:)

I too have a magazine hoarding problem. BTW, do not throw out Domino it sells for some cash on ebay. As to herringbone, I am remodeling my master bath and putting in ....yes! herringbone in pecan finish!

I think magazine hoarding is for every design or decor appreciator.
Its a little like CD's, as much as we have loaded all the songs on iTunes...we still can't bring ourselves to get rid of the actual hard copy that we can hold in our hands. I love the pendant light in the dining shot. Gorgeous.

yess!!! i have this "problem." i still re-read them... after awhile, they're like new again!

i have every last domino, and LOTS of others. half of my built-in bookshelves are for magazines. husband doesn't understand, but that's ok.

it's a delightful thing to hoard :)

could be worse, right?

Timely post! I went on a purging spree last w/e & tore out my fav pages from several older magazines I had lying around. At the time I was wondering if this was even necessary w/Pinterest now, but couldn't fully let go. I did donate the old mags to my son's art teacher. A few though I couldn't bare tearing up & left them in tact. Good to know I am not alone!

This is a very exquisite house design. The area on the first photo is very manly, and it looks like a fine and intelligent bachelor is living in the place. The bookshelf is lofty and the furniture are all exceptional. Hmm. I’m going to show this to my little brother. He is a serious bookworm and he’s having trouble on what to do with all his books. Maybe this could help.

I had my dominos hard-bound (and my Martha Stewart Weddings...or about 10 yrs them). It makes them seem legit on the book shelf, and I like that it is a tiny bit crazy. But now I can't get rid of Elle Decor or House Beautiful (they upped their game). And the others....Vogue, Garden and Gun, Trad Home, Anthology....take a long time to purge.

Too funny! I was just reading a Domino from '08 last night! I saved most but am still kicking myself for getting rid of all the mags I saved from their first year.

ps - I have triplet boys too. Love your site!

I have a pile sitting RIGHT NEXT TO ME RIGHT NOW.

I've been trying to go through them, fold down the pages that interest me and find the images online. Then pass the magazine on to a friend.

I love the pictures.

well now that you call them "glossies" they seem like prized possessions I should NEVER throw out.

Bored of herringbone in every other way, but ALWAYS looks good in wood.

I was the same way....never wanted to part with my precious magazines. I had 8 yrs. worth of different design magazines. Finally last year, I decided to adopt the fashion philosophy of "If you haven't used it in a year" throw it out. So I did except for some of my favorites magazines. Just this past Friday I threw those out too and it felt a lot better than I thought it would. Haven't missed them yet. I figured everything I would want to access them for is now online somewhere. :)

I love all the photos! Grey walls are worth featuring. They add a classic accent that brings memories of several veteran movies I’ve watched and come to adore. That grey wall on the yellow accented bedroom is impressive. Such a fabulous combination! Speaking of magazines, I do harbour the same problem. I need some space but I would not want to regret once I throw them all out. I will be looking around your blog all the time for more interesting ideas, which will definitely inspire home builders Missouri and interior designers out there. Thanks for wonderful posts!

Online is wonderful, but the printing process brings out detail and colour not yet available online, unless photographers and shelter mags start giving up their hi-rez versions. (I'd pay for an online mag that had hi-rez pics that I could blow up in detail on my big Mac or TV, like an art photo service almost.) Subtlety is missed on Pinterest.
